There are
25 families of crocodilians on our planet.
Other than the alligator
two of the best known in the western hemisphere are the
North American Crocodile and the South American Caiman.
Along with our American
Crocodile you will see Caiman, Orinoco Crocodile, and
our 25 plus collection of scariest predator: The Nile
Crocodiles.
The known population of the
American Crocodile is only about 600. These are found in
Florida in the upper Keys and along the southern most
coastal areas. The Caiman however is quite abundant many
have been imported and are owned a pets in this country.
Female
crocodilians help their babies from the nest, even by
gently placing the eggs in her mouth and cracking them
open. Then she will carry the young ones to the water.

When a young crocodilian is in trouble, it gives a
distress call and any adult within range will present a
full-fledged attack, even if they are not related.

In 2000 BC, Egyptians used
Crocodile dung as a contraceptive.
Egyptian medical writings contain prescriptions for
female contraceptives made from crocodile dung. I guess
you could see how this worked!
